Schooners is known by the locals as "The Last Local Beach
Club," because it is one of the last holdouts of the classic
beach style. It's well-worn wood dance floors, tin roof, and beachfront
bar are local landmarks.
Schooners was severely damaged by Hurricane Opal in 1995. Carr
Engineering & Construction, Inc. was contracted to repair the
damage to the building and decks and upgrade the interior finishes.
Work involved on-site design and engineering to accommodate existing
structural elements and Owner needs. The reconstruction of the building
and deck now accommodates dozens of guests and offers a great view
of the Gulf of Mexico and Panama City's famous beaches.
